Kris Kristofferson in Nashville

Nashville is well known as the place to go for country music. The Grand Ole Opry has long been the home for the country greats. Earlier this year, the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills were flooded out and our visit is just days before the re-opening. But the downtown is as busy as always, even on our Sunday visit. Our timing wasn't all bad however. We noticed a large crowd just a few blocks south of Broadway (the main drag) and were happy to see a longtime favorite, Kris Kristofferson receive a star on the music city walk of fame along with Mel Tillis. While I have never been a huge fan of country music, I have always admired the artistry of Kris Kristofferson, his writing, music and acting. He has a long history of achievements including earning a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford.

There is much more to Nashville and the surrounding area like historic Civil War battle fields, beautiful plantations and southern favorites like biscuits, fried chicken and sweet tea.

  1. It must have been incredible seeing KK! Sorry I did not read this earlier; I would have suggested going to the Nashville Parthenon (the world's only full size replica of the ancient Athenian wonder)in the main city park.
