The Living Desert Zoo and State Park
As we approached Carlsbad we took a day to explore the area, taking in the Living Desert Zoo and State Park. Worth the trip and only $5 per person, it was a good value and enjoyable. Not as good as the Desert Museum in Tucson but still a great days activity.
The little town of Carlsbad is very nice as well. We stopped to have our dinner along the Pecos River that runs through town. The river front was developed by the CCC in the 30’s and has been well maintained by the town providing a great 6 mile walk along both sides of the river.
