A tree to weak to stand

If you think living in the panhandle area is all fun and relaxation a look at the local plants tells a story of struggle. Survival for plants in the sand dunes along the beaches depends on that plants ability to adapt to the harsh conditions of extreme heat, heavy rain and drought. Wind and salt spray stunt the growth making their trunks and branches appear twisted and gnarled.
