Tree Snails

The living jewels of the hammock, tree snails are a beautiful multicolored inhabitants of southern Florida and the Florida Keys. They are two to three inches long, with color varieties ranging from white to almost black, wrapped in whorls of emerald green, chestnut, orange, yellow or pink. The tree snail is listed as a species of special concern in Florida. They are threatened by illegal gathering of the shells, pesticides and fall prey to several invasive species that call Florida home.
