Over the last few years while traveling through FL we look for opportunities to see the manatees when ever possible, often driving out of our way and staying in campgrounds that are not our favorite, just to catch a fleeting glimpse. While kayaking this morning near the campground I spotted a cow and baby. As we ventured into one of the canals we noticed this guy hanging out by the boat tied to a shore dock. As we watched the manatee slowly came over to us coming up to the kayak and taking a breath inches from us. Then slowly swam under us to do the same on the other side! Assume! So gental and curious and just amazing to see up close in the wild!
